Thomas Tolstrup (b.1967) is a freelance photographer working out of Copenhagen, Denmark.
He graduated from the Danish School of Journalism, and started his career working as a newspaper staff photographer for the Danish national Jyllands-Posten.
He has won several awards as a newspaper photographer and was named "photojournalist of the year" in 1996 in Denmark.
Since then his career has moved in a more commercial direction.
Thomas has been shooting for some of the major companies in Europe, with a strong focus on people, lifestyle and portraits. He is known for bringing forward the "human side" of corporate productions, showing us who is behind the scenes, and for making corporate storytelling that is believable and genuine. He has been involved in developing several visual concepts together with graphic designers and art directors.
Thomas has a strong passion for telling stories, whether being in a single portrait, or on a larger scale.
In 2005 he signed up with GettyImages Creative and is now actively working with their London office.
Thomas participated in the November 2010 MediaStorm Storytelling Workshop. He had the following to say about his experience:
I have learned so much from this workshop. I now have a clear vision of what is needed to make a great multimedia production. The importance of teamwork, getting all the right shots from different angles and the importance of good audio. I feel I have an upgraded toolbox, ready to be used!
