Desiree Cousineau works as a Digital Media Manager and freelance videographer in Dallas, Texas. Her foundation as a visual storyteller formed while attending graduate school at the University of North Texas where she graduated with an MA in journalism. During this time, she spearheaded The Arrivals project, which focused on the lives of several North Texas DACA recipients. In 2013, she began her work with Heart of Mexico. This bilingual narrative journalism project seeks to tell the stories of Mexico that are often hidden from headlines. Her multimedia story, “Just Go: Three Generations of Women Breaking Barriers,” won second place in the National Press Photographer Association in the professional multimedia category for November 2013. Desiree worked as Writer in Residence for Heart of Mexico 2014 based on her previous experience with both written and visual communication. Most recently, Desiree developed an interest in storytelling for nonprofits while attending a Momenta Workshop in Portland, Oregon. Desiree is passionate about traveling, reading and all things wiener dog-related.
