Jim Lo Scalzo

Even after 11 years as a staff photojournalist with European Pressphoto Agency (EPA), and 16 years with US News & World Report before that, I’m not my own idea of a photojournalist. I’ve shot assignments in more than 60 countries, had a hanging exhibit at the 2012 Visa Pour L'Image, and written a memoir. I also spent four years as an adjunct professor of photojournalism at George Washington University, and was named the 2016 White House News Photographer Association's photographer of the year. And yet I still hate tech talk, and don’t own a flash. I do carry a mic and notebook, however. And often a video camera. I love to write and report my own stories; all the multimedia pieces you see here were made by me alone. As for the rest, I love to teach, to cook, to travel. I have a master’s degree in photojournalism from the University of Missouri, Columbia, and live in Washington, DC, with my wife and two children.
