POV Hackathon

POV (Point of View), the award-winning independent documentary series celebrating its 25th anniversary on PBS this year, is reaching out to documentary filmmakers who have projects at any stage of production for the first POV Hackathon, taking place Saturday-Sunday, Aug. 11-12, 2012, in New York City. The weekend is an opportunity for filmmakers with a digital vision to work with developers and designers to create a finished prototype — be it a mobile site, web app, widget, game or something we've never seen before — for the web. In this unique photographic event, hundreds of thousands of people will work together to create a unique documentation of daily life. Dart Society Benefit and Auction May 17

The Dart Society will be holding a benefit and auction at the gallery 25CPW in New York City on Thursday, May 17, beginning at 6 p.m. The benefit will honor Joel Simon of the Committee to Protect Journalists, photojournalist Lynsey Addario, and writer and documentarian Sebastian Junger for their commitment to excellence and compassion in the coverage of conflict, trauma and social injustice. Tickets to the event, which will feature live and silent auctions of photography and books by Dart Society members and their colleagues, are $75 for one ticket and $100 for two. Proceeds from ticket sales and auction items will be used to support the Dart Society’s outreach programs to journalists covering trauma and to support Dart Society Reports, which showcases the best work in trauma journalism. MediaStorm projects to screen September 10 at Galapagos Art Space

Just a reminder- On September 10 (tomorrow!), MediaStorm will be screening a full evening of multimedia video projects at Galapagos Art Space, including our Emmy award-winning and nominated pieces, Intended Consequences, Bloodline, and Kingsley's Crossing. The show will begin at 5:30pm, and will run throughout the evening, with new projects beginning every 20-30 minutes. This is a rare chance to see these projects on the big screen, so don't miss out! It's also a great opportunity to explore DUMBO during September's 1st Thursday Gallery Walk- tons of great exhibitions will be open, and local restaurants and bars will have specials galore.
