2008 Commencement Speech

Columbia, MO, Jesse Hall – I went back to my alma matter yesterday to deliver the commencement speech at the University of Missouri's School of Journalism graduation ceremony. I do presentations all the time, but always with the support of visuals. The process of writing a speech was new and intense, but it was rewarding to share the experience with the Class of 2008. I was introduced by graduating senior Robert Crosby. Robert Crosby: Our speaker is Brian Storm who graduated with his Missouri School of Journalism master’s degree in 1995. Mr. Storm is president of MediaStorm, the award-winning multimedia production studio based in New York City. MediaStorm has won several nationally recognized awards for its multimedia and documentary work. Bob Sacha joins MediaStorm

I'm excited to welcome Bob Sacha as MediaStorm's newest Multimedia Producer. Bob is an award-winning photojournalist who has spent more than 25 years producing in-depth photo essays, portraits and covers for National Geographic, Life, Time and Fortune, among dozens of other national and international publications. Bob was the John H. and James L. Knight Foundation Fellow at Ohio University in 2006-2007, teaching photography and as a master's candidate in new media and film. This year he leads a graduate seminar in documentary and photojournalism at New York's International Center of Photography.

Greg Harris joins MediaStorm

I'm excited to welcome Greg Harris as MediaStorm's Creative Director. Prior to MediaStorm, Harris was creative director of publishing products for Brightcove and has been designing interactive experiences for more than 15 years. Harris is also a a co-founder of MetaStories, an online publishing tool, that was acquired by Brightcove in 2006. Before MetaStories Greg served as Creative Director for the Seattle office of Circle.com an interactive agency founded by Roger Black. Harris also served as Design Director for MSNBC.com where he and his team were responsible for the design and user experience for the site.

Eddie Adams Workshop Multimedia Presentations

Each year, a few students are selected to not only shoot still images, but record audio as well. Each photographer works intensively with the multimedia team led by Brian Storm and Tom Kennedy to produce a full audio-visual piece within two days. The multimedia team included Robert Browman, Bob Sacha, Diane Cook, Jim Seida, Chad Stevens, Seth Gitner, Kainaz Amaria, Tim Klimowicz, Greg Harris, Miki Meek, Coburn Dukehart, Pauline Bartolone and Bob Croslin. MediaStorm Wins Emmy for Outstanding Documentary for Broadband

MediaStorm's Kingsley's Crossing by Olivier Jobard, is the recipient of the 2007 Emmy Award for Documentary/NonFiction for Broadband. MediaStorm's BLOODLINE: AIDS and Family by Kristen Ashburn was also nominated in the same category. Other nominees included: Washingtonpost.com - Being a Black Man Washingtonpost.com - Contamination and a Crusade Washingtonpost.com - Crisis in Darfur Expands Frontline - France: Soundtrack To A Riot Pictured from left to right are Robert Browman, Brian Storm, Elodie Mailliet and Eric Maierson.
