Brian Storm Speaking at Montclair University Colloquium Series

Brian Storm, MediaStorm founder and executive producer, is speaking at Montclair University on February 22 as as part of the university's Colloquium Series. The School of Communication and Media's Colloquium Series provides a forum for students, faculty, and invited guests to share their work and address relevant current issues in news, public policy, government, and so on. Brian Storm is founder and executive producer of the award-winning multimedia production studio MediaStorm, based in Brooklyn, N.Y. MediaStorm Online Training Launches ‘The Making Of: Take Care’

We are happy to release The Making Of: Take Care, the fourth module in our Making Of training series. This new educational module invites seasoned multimedia professionals and beginners alike to learn about the decisions, both in the field and in the editing suite, that went into the making of MediaStorm Storytelling Workshop story Take Care. Take Care is a story about family, choices and reconciliation. It offers a glimpse into the life of Virginia Gandee, a 22-year-old woman who lives in Staten Island, New York. At first glance one is struck by Virginia's bold appearance; her bright red hair and the dozen tattoos that canvas her body. When she was 15, Gin left home to marry a 20-year-old she met online. Two years later, she was a teenage mother. Today, Gin is raising her daughter as a single mother and pursuing her dream to become a nurse. Meanwhile we see that…

We are thrilled to announce motion design as the newest addition to our post-production repertoire. MediaStorm has a tradition of using multimedia tools to tell top-quality stories that matter. In the past we've focused on using stills, video, audio, and graphic and interactive design to tell stories. We see motion design as an exciting new step that embraces our cinematic narrative tradition and elevates our ability to tell great stories. New MediaStorm-MAG Release ‘Surviving the Peace: Angola’

We are pleased to share Surviving the Peace: Angola, our most recent client project produced with the Mines Advisory Group (MAG). The second project in the Surviving the Peace series, Surviving the Peace: Angola tells the emotional story of Angolans living in the shadow of landmines and unexploded ordnance more than a decade after the conflict officially ended. This piece—the first MediaStorm project shot on Canon’s newly released C300 camera—was shot and produced in a style that would create a tense, uncertain mood. To detail the story of the Angolan Civil War, MediaStorm's motion graphics designer developed a graphics package that includes archival news reports, creating a fascinating look into Angolan history. Brian Storm Receives Clifton C. Edom Award

Brian Storm, founder and executive producer of MediaStorm, has been awarded the National Press Photographers Association Clifton C. Edom Award. According to NPPA, the award recognizes an individual in the tradition of Cliff Edom to inspire and motivate members of the photojournalism community to reach new heights. According to the nomination, "Storm has backed up his vision with project after project of meaningful work, incorporating traditional still photography, but incorporating audio and video and informational graphics in compelling ways. He sees that the story of humanity remains the cornerstone to our profession." The award was announced along with NPPA's other annual awards including the Joseph A. Sprague Memorial Award, which was awarded to Charles W. “Chick” Harrity, retired from U.S. News & World Report Magazine, and Dennis Dimick, the executive environment editor and the interim director of photography for National Geographic Magazine, among other honors.
