Application Deadline for Smith Grants Set for May 31st

The deadline to apply for grants presented by the W. Eugene Smith Memorial Fund is set for May 31st, 2013. W. Eugene Smith Grant for Humanistic Photography 2013 Grant: $30,000 Discretionary Fellowship: $5,000 To Apply: http://smithfund.org/eugene-smith-grant Application Deadline: May 31, 2013 The W. Eugene Smith Grant is presented annually to a photographer whose past work and proposed project, as judged by a panel of experts, follows the tradition of W. Eugene Smith’s concerned photography and dedicated compassion exhibited during his 45-year career as a photographic essayist. The grant has often been referred to as the most prestigious honor in the field of documentary photography. For 2013, the amount of the grant will be $30,000 to provide photographers with the financial freedom to continue or complete a major photographic project. Cortney Cleveland is a freelance writer helping professionals and brands tell stories on the web. Her coverage of professional development, cultural, and entrepreneurial topics appears in online outlets like Madame Noire and Black Enterprise. Prior to starting her freelance career, she worked in public relations, supporting a variety of communications campaigns and managing high-profile client accounts for public relations agencies in Washington, DC (GMMB) and New York City (Peppercom).
