MediaStorm Sponsors IAFOR Documentary Photography Award

We are pleased to serve as a sponsor of the IAFOR Documentary Photography Award.

This new award seeks to promote and assist in the professional development of emerging documentary photographers and photojournalists.

In addition to a £1,000 cash award, mentorship sessions, exhibitions in the UK and Japan, and an invitation to an IAFOR conference in Asia, Europe or North America, the first place winner will receive a place in our One Day Workshop. Winners will be announced July 15th.

Hillary for America, the official campaign to elect Hillary Clinton for President, is looking for candidates to fill its full-service video production team.

Filmmakers, editors, cinematographers, producers and motion graphics artists are encouraged to apply for the New York City-based positions (full-time through November 2016).

Interested candidates should send an email describing why you want to work for the campaign and why you support Hillary Clinton, along with your resume, to VideoStaffing@hillaryclinton.com. Include in the subject line: Video Team, position you are applying for, and your name. Also include a link to your reel/portfolio, along with your availability and three references.

MediaStorm Presents the 2015 ICP Infinity Awardee Films

MediaStorm is pleased to present a film series produced in collaboration with the International Center of Photography with support from Harbers Studios. Since 1985 ICP’s Infinity Awards have brought attention to outstanding achievements in photography by honoring individuals with distinguished careers in the field and identifying future luminaries. The 2015 Infinity Awards films serve as a portrait of some of the important contributors to photography today. Photojournalism: Tomas van Houtryve Tomas van Houtryve wants there to be a permanent visual record of the dawn of the drone age, the period in American history when America started outsourcing their military to flying robots. In order to create this record, Van Houtryve sent his own drone into American skies. Young Photographer: Evgenia Arbugaeva Evgenia Arbugaeva was born in the magical town of Tiksi, Russia. ‘The Long Night’ Selected as a Finalist in the 2015 Dart Awards

The Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma, a project of the Columbia Journalism School, today announced the winners of the 21st annual Dart Awards for Excellence in Coverage of Trauma. The Long Night was named one of eight finalists. This year, The Long Night has garnered recognition from three major photojournalism industry awards, including the Picture of the Year International (POYi) Documentary Project of the Year, the National Press Photographers Association 2015 Best of Photojournalism Best Use of Multimedia award and First Place Long Form Documentary Feature in the World Press Photo Multimedia Contest. It has also been nominated for the 19th Annual Webby Awards under the People’s Voice category for Online Film & Video: Drama: Individual Short or Episode. The annual Dart Awards recognize outstanding reporting in all media that portrays traumatic events with accuracy, insight and sensitivity, while illuminating the effects of violence and tragedy on victims’ lives.
