ORBmedia is looking for a Managing Editor/ Executive Producer to run a special six month project. Candidates will have the opportunity to work with a journalism start-up in the process of generating sample stories. Over a six month project you will: Develop varied processes for story development and execution Build a team to make this happen, and Fully report and produce 3-5 sample stories (number to be discussed during negotiations) The project is based in Washington, DC. Tim Hetherington Grant Calls for Applications

World Press Photo and Human Rights Watch invite press photographers and photojournalists around the world to apply for the third Tim Hetherington Grant. The annual grant, worth €20,000, will be awarded to a photographer to complete an existing project on a human rights theme.

The judges will look for the qualities that defined Tim’s career when reviewing the applications: work that operates on multiple platforms and in a variety of formats; that crosses boundaries between breaking news and longer-term investigation; and that demonstrates a consistent moral commitment to the lives and stories of the photographic subjects.

Fernando Moleres received the second Tim Hetherington Grant in 2012 for his project “Waiting for an opportunity”.

PhotoPhilanthropy Activist Awards Call for Submissions

The PhotoPhilanthropy Activist Awards identify outstanding work done by photographers in collaboration with nonprofit organizations worldwide and awards prizes ranging from $2,000-$15,000. This year, for the first time in its history, PhotoPhilanthropy will offer a mobile photography award in addition to its traditional student, amateur, and professional category awards for most compelling documentary photography essays completed on behalf of nonprofits.

The Penguin Counters is a documentary of a story that’s never been told, about tackling climate change one penguin at a time. For the production team – Peter Getzels, Erik Osterholm and Harriet Gordon – it was a labor of love to follow field-biologist Ron Naveen and his team as he tracks the welfare of colonies of penguins in the world’s most pristine scientific laboratory: Antarctica.
