The Kalish Workshop is an inspirational and intense five-day experience in editing visual storytelling. It is designed to benefit anyone who touches photography with a narrative storyline for online and print.
Nomadique is seeking submissions for their upcoming multimedia art exhibition, inviting artists to reflect on the sensation of belonging. The pop-up show will be held in New York City in mid-April and will feature live performances, film screenings, and a gallery display. Submitted works may reflect on the following questions: To what do we belong and why? How does an anxiety of belonging impact our development and behavior? How does belonging affect our sense of purpose? Does belonging necessitate exclusion by nature? The winners of the 2014 World Press Photo Multimedia Contest will be exhibited in New York on December 12th - 19th, 2014 and January 19th - February 6th, 2015. The nine awarded productions will be shown in the brand new exhibition space of the Brown Institute for Media Innovation at Columbia University. The Annenberg Space for Photography Skylight Studios presents Inside Tracks: Behind the Lens on the Assignment of a Lifetime, an immersive display of the story of Rick Smolan, a photographer assigned by National Geographic in 1977 to document Robyn Davidson, a 27-year-old Australian woman who undertook a 1700-mile journey across the Outback by camelback. The exhibit weaves together elements from Rick's work for National Geographic and his own groundbreaking book/CD-ROM From Alice to Ocean as well as Davidson's best-selling memoir Tracks and the recently released feature film based on the book.
