NPPA Multimedia Immersion

The National Press Photographers Association will be holding its annual Multimedia Immersion in Syracuse, NY on May 15-19, 2012. The workshop will be an intense, five-day, hands-on training workshop for visual journalists looking to expand and grow their multimedia skill sets using the latest technology. The focus will be on mixing photos, video and audio, and editing them into multimedia presentations. Every student will produce their own finished, professional project -- from capturing all the content to editing to compressing the final files. Previous students have ranged from multiple Pulitzer Prize Winners, Best of Photojournalism winners, the current White House Photographer, academics, editors, students, working professionals and freelancers all looking to supercharge their careers. BD's Hope for a Healthy World Photo Competition is looking for submissions by photographers covering a variety of global health topics. The winners' work will be exhibited as part of the Hope for a Healthy World Photo Exhibition, a global health traveling photo gallery used to raise awareness and influence opinion on important health-related issues. The gallery will debut at the LOOK3 Festival of the Photograph, June 7-9, 2012 in Charlottesville, VA. This year's judges include David Griffin, Visuals Editor at the Washington Post, who for many years worked at National Geographic; Jon Jones, Photo Editor at Sunday TIMES, UK; and Kira Pollack, Director of Photography at TIME Magazine. The Nielsen Photo Group is offering five internships this summer in New York, New York. The Nielsen Photo Group manages magazines, Web sites, trade shows and events for photo hobbyists, student photographers and teachers and professional photographers. There are openings in the Web development, marketing, sales and editorial departments.
