Will you lead the future of journalism?<\/p>\n

Hack, triple j\u2019s daily youth affairs show, is building a team of next-generation storytellers.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re seeking multi-skilled program makers to tackle stories in two environments \u2013 radio and online. The two platforms will work together. Radio stories will form the basis for a new kind of online multimedia experience.<\/p>\n

As a cross-media journalist, you will publish stories to the flagship Hack radio show, including live crosses and multilayered field reports; you will also publish multimedia showcases to a revamped Hack website. The end result? An immersive web experience with photos, audio and video.<\/p>\n

Your stories will originate in brave, accessible and relevant program ideas for young Australians, 18 \u2013 24.<\/p>\n

This position requires an advanced level of technical skill \u2013 audio editing, video shooting and editing online publishing \u2013 alongside proven editorial judgment and high level experience in researching and conducting interviews.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll work closely with a team and be able to take direction; you\u2019ll also go it alone when necessary.<\/p>\n

Selection Criteria<\/p>\n

\u2022 Proven experience in developing and producing creative, accessible and relevant program content including live and packaged field reports for radio. A demonstrated creative approach to story construction and delivery for radio and online.
\n\u2022 Demonstrated ability to initiate, research and conduct interviews and provide significant input into shaping the program\u2019s sound.
\n\u2022 Proven experience in radio with accomplished editorial skills and judgment.
\n\u2022 Very strong and detailed knowledge of key issues that are relevant to, and affect the 18\u201324 audience and a high level knowledge of key issues and strategies that would maintain and build a national audience.
\n\u2022 Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. A proven team player with the ability to go it alone when necessary with strong interpersonal and motivational skills.
\n\u2022 Proven ability in working with\/and detailed knowledge and understanding of modern broadcast technologies and digital editing systems such as Protools, Final Cut Pro and or Avid.
\n\u2022 Knowledge of web publishing\/multimedia \u2013 digital storytelling, image manipulation, writing for the web, file transfer etc.
\n\u2022 A detailed understanding and commitment to ABC Editorial and Corporate Policies including Equity & Diversity and OH&S policies and practices.<\/p>\n
