{"id":22844,"date":"2025-05-23T14:25:51","date_gmt":"2025-05-23T18:25:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mediastorm.com\/blog\/?p=22844"},"modified":"2025-05-30T16:51:29","modified_gmt":"2025-05-30T20:51:29","slug":"sebastiao-salgado-passes-away","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mediastorm.com\/blog\/2025\/05\/23\/sebastiao-salgado-passes-away\/","title":{"rendered":"Sebasti\u00e3o Salgado passes away"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MediaStorm is saddened by the passing of the legendary photojournalist Sebasti\u00e3o Salgado. <\/p>\n<p>We had the honor of spending many hours with Salgado while producing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediastorm.com\/clients\/icp-infinity-awards\/2022\/lifetime-achievement-sebastiao-salgado\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a film on his personal journey and remarkable body of work<\/a> for the <a href=\"https:\/\/infinityawards.mediastorm.com\/2022-icp-infinity-awards\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ICP Infinity Awards in 2022<\/a>. <\/p>\n<div style=\"padding-bottom:75%;padding-bottom:calc(56.25% + 160px);position:relative;\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/embeds.mediastorm.com\/0799\" style=\"position:absolute;top:0;left:0;width:100%;height:100%;\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>During our time together, Salgado told MediaStorm &#8220;a good picture, a fantastic picture, you do in a fraction of a second. But to arrive to do this picture, you must put your life in there.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Salgado was born in Brazil on February 8, 1944. He grew up on a farm with his seven sisters.<\/p>\n<p>Salgado originally pursued a career in economics graduating with a masters degree from the University of S\u00e3o Paulo. After beginning his doctorate, he moved to London and worked as an economist for the International Coffee Organization. <\/p>\n<p>When he was 26, he began to develop an interest in photography.<\/p>\n<p>It didn\u2019t take long to develop his skill, and within several years he decided to pursue a second career as a photojournalist. <\/p>\n<p>In 1979, he joined <a href=\"https:\/\/www.magnumphotos.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Magnum Photos<\/a> continuing on as a member until starting his own agency in 1994.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy career is about patience.
