T<span class=\"s1\">he Reading the Pictures Salon\u00a0focuses on\u00a0how the US\/Mexico border wall is depicted, and how photographers and the media are using imagery to depict the politics, to editorialize\u00a0on it, or to outright challenge the\u00a0politics from a human rights and social justice perspective.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mediastorm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/RTP.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21404\" src=\"https:\/\/mediastorm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/RTP.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mediastorm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/RTP.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.mediastorm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/RTP-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Salon brings together the eyes and voices of the world&#8217;s leading photojournalists, photo editors, visual scholars and other highly-informed observers to analyze select edits of still images in a unique two hour on-line discussion format. Offered free via the web, each program garners hundreds of viewers immediately, and thousands of viewers over weeks and months, attracting a targeted audience of concerned citizens, students, scholars, and media professionals.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The salon will take place on <strong>December 6, at 7:30 pm EST (join <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bigmarker.com\/ReadingThePictures\/The-Media-s-Visual-Representation-of-the-US-Mexico-Border-Wall\">here<\/a>)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>An expert panel will examine the visual depiction of the wall, and how photographers and the news media are using imagery to frame the politics and the human rights issues surrounding the wall. Special attention will be paid to images published since the White House implementation of the \u201czero tolerance\u201d policy, the family separation crisis and \u201cthe caravan.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>This salon is co-produced with the Magnum Foundation with the support of the W.
