This year&#8217;s 14 winners will be awarded on January 25, 2017 at the award&#8217;s 75th celebration.<\/p>\n<p>MediaStorm is honored to have been the first organization to receive the Alfred I. duPont Award for a web-based production in 2010 for <a href=\"http:\/\/mediastorm.com\/publication\/intended-consequences\">Intended Consequences<\/a>. In 2011, we received the Award for Excellence in Broadcast Journalism for <a href=\"http:\/\/mediastorm.com\/publication\/undesired\">Undesired.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This year, investigative journalism will be honored with nine awards across network and cable television, radio and local television stations, often in overlapping platforms. Four awards will go to local television news investigations:\u00a0KXAN\u00a0for documenting the police\u2019s inaccurate racial profiling records;\u00a0NBC Connecticut\u00a0for uncovering widespread home foundation failures;\u00a0WTHR-TV\u00a0for exposing massive mismanagement and corruption at a popular charity; and\u00a0WXIA 11Alive\u00a0for spotlighting both a problem with the 911 emergency system and promoting potential solutions.<\/p>\n<p>Public broadcasting will receive four awards: two for network hours will go to\u00a0FRONTLINE\u2019s Syria and Iraq reporting and\u00a0NOVA\u2019s dazzling yet disturbing look at the impact of global warming. Two silver batons will go to public radio programming:\u00a0\u00a0Michigan Radio\u2019s revealing coverage of the Flint water crisis and\u00a0NPR\/Colorado Public Radio\u2019s expos\u00e9 on the Army\u2019s mistreatment of disabled veterans. The broadcast news networks will take home two duPonts: one goes to\u00a0NBC News\u00a0Dateline\u2019s \u201cThe Cosby Accusers Speak;\u201d the other for\u00a0CBS News&#8217;s breaking coverage of the migrant crisis, respectively. Two documentaries will be honored with awards: one for\u00a0HBO\u2019s \u201cA Girl in the River\u201d and the second for\u00a0ESPN Films\u2019 \u201cOJ: Made in America,\u201d a nearly eight hour-long documentary.<\/p>\n<p>The GroundTruth Project, an online nonprofit media organization, will win its first silver baton for Foreverstan: \u201cThe Girls\u2019 School\u201d and \u201cRazia\u2019s Way,\u201d a hybrid film, digital and podcast look at Afghan women\u2019s education.
