A reader who is new to Premiere Pro writes, \u201cOK, I cry uncle. I can\u2019t for the life of me come up with an efficient way to use the keyboard to select the end or beginning of a clip. How do you do it? Do you use the mouse?\u201d<\/p>\n

Turns out that selecting edit points with just the keyboard is simple. Just press the T<\/strong> key and Premiere Pro will select the edit points closest to your playhead.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the trick though: Premiere Pro will only select the tracks that are highlighted in the left column.<\/p>\n

In the example below, pressing T<\/strong> selects only the edit point for A1, as it\u2019s the only track selected.<\/p>\n

To select a track without using the mouse, you\u2019ll need to assign it a keystroke.<\/p>\n

From the Premiere Pro<\/strong> menu select Keyboard Shortcuts\u2026 (Option-Command-K)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Then, search for Toggle<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

You can then assign shortcuts to your audio and video tracks 1 – 8.<\/p>\n

Once an edit point is selected, you can easily shuffle through Premiere\u2019s various editing modes, press:<\/p>\n
