Internet cafe refugees are mostly temporary employees, their salary too low to rent their own apartments. \u00a0<em>Japan\u2019s Disposable Workers<\/em> is\u00a0a film series produced in collaboration\u00a0the <a href=\"http:\/\/pulitzercenter.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting<\/a>. Based on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mediastorm.com\/contributor\/shiho-fukada\/604\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shiho Fukada<\/a>\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/pulitzercenter.org\/projects\/japan-disposable-workers-labor-unemployment-crisis-economy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">portrait series<\/a>, the film explores the labor issues affecting Japan in three sections, to illustrate the larger global labor crisis at work.<\/p>\n<p>World Press Photo organizes the leading international contest in visual journalism. The foundation is committed to supporting and advancing high standards in photojournalism and documentary storytelling worldwide.
