To read more about why we made the switch, check out <a href=\"http:\/\/mediastorm.com\/blog\/2012\/10\/19\/why-im-switching-to-abobe-premiere-not-final-cut-x\/\" target=\"_blank\">this post<\/a>.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>At MediaStorm, we are meticulous about how we crop the photographs in our films.<\/p>\n<p>Even so, sometimes when a picture has black edges it can be difficult to see exactly where the photograph ends and the default black background of Premiere Pro begins.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes a sliver of of black slips through undetected.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-19250\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/blog1-e1425515099412.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"289\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Recently, I stumbled across a Premiere Pro setting that makes it easier to distinguish between an image and black background, the <strong>Transparency Grid<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>To turn on the transparency grid, simply click the <strong>wrench<\/strong> in the <strong>Program Window<\/strong> and select <strong>Transparency Grid<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-19248\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/blog2.jpg\" width=\"349\" height=\"747\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mediastorm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/blog2.jpg 349w, https:\/\/www.mediastorm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/blog2-140x300.jpg 140w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 349px) 100vw, 349px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The default black background will change to a grey and white checkered pattern.<\/p>\n<p>Notice, how much easier it is to see the edge of the frame when the transparency grid is turned on.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-19249\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/bog3-e1425515118661.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"289\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This article is part of a series of posts with tips and tricks from our producers&#8217; experience working with Adobe Premiere Pro CC after years of working in Final Cut Pro.
