Recording voice-overs in Premiere Pro 2014 is both easy and straightforward. <\/p>\n

First, you\u2019ll need to connect your audio interface. From the Premiere Pro<\/strong> menu select Preferences > Audio Hardware<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

I use the\u00a0Mackie Onyx Blackjack 2×2 USB<\/a> interface with a\u00a0Heil Pr\u201340<\/a> microphone.<\/p>\n

Therefore, from the Audio Hardware<\/strong> preference window, I select Onyx Blackjack<\/strong>. Depending on the input source, your options may vary.<\/p>\n

Next, set the destination for recorded audio. From the File<\/strong> menu, select Project Settings > Scratch Disks\u2026<\/strong> Change the Captured Audio<\/strong> destination to a folder where you\u2019d like to store your voice-overs.<\/p>\n

Open the Audio Track Mixer<\/strong> using the Window<\/strong> menu.<\/p>\n

From the fly-out menu select Meter Input(s) Only<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This will ensure that your audio recording does not also contain audio from your project, that the VO recording is clean.<\/p>\n

In the Audio Track mixer select the track you\u2019d like to record to by pressing the \u2018R\u2019<\/strong> record button.<\/p>\n

Press<\/strong> the record circle<\/strong> at the bottom of the window.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Finally, press the adjacent play button<\/strong> or the spacebar<\/strong> to begin recording.<\/p>\n

Premiere Pro will automatically import your new VO to the timeline as well as import it into the project.<\/p>\n

Note that in order to record voice-over, it\u2019s necessary to have assets already in your timeline. In my testing, you can not record to an empty sequence.<\/p>\n

Also worth investigating are the Voice-Over Recording Settings\u2026<\/strong> that are available by right-clicking<\/strong> an audio channel<\/strong> in the timeline.<\/p>\n
