To read more about why we made the switch, check out <a href=\"http:\/\/mediastorm.com\/blog\/2012\/10\/19\/why-im-switching-to-abobe-premiere-not-final-cut-x\/\" target=\"_blank\">this post<\/a>.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>When it comes to backups, you can never have enough.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, Premiere Pro\u2019s Auto Save vault <strong>(File &gt; Project Settings &gt; Scratch Disks\u2026)<\/strong> allows you to backup your project file at user-specified intervals.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve written <a href=\"http:\/\/mediastorm.com\/blog\/2012\/12\/03\/mediastorm-guide-to-enhancing-adobe-premiere-pros-auto-save-functionality\/\" target=\"_blank\">previously<\/a> about how to enhance this functionality with Noodlesoft\u2019s $25 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.noodlesoft.com\/hazel.php\" target=\"_blank\">Hazel<\/a>. Hazel essentially watches your vault for updated versions and then copies them to a secondary destination of your choice, all automated and in real time.<\/p>\n<p>The reason for this added protection is that even if you <a href=\"http:\/\/mediastorm.com\/blog\/2010\/04\/08\/mediastorms-guide-to-backing-up\/\" target=\"_blank\">backup<\/a> your work every evening, what happens if your drive dies in the middle of the afternoon? You could potentially lose hours of work.<\/p>\n<p>With the advent of <em>\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00CS75YKE\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B00CS75YKE&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=mediastorm01-20\">Premiere Pro CC<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/e\/ir?t=mediastorm01-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=B00CS75YKE\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" \/>, Adobe now offers users 20GB of free online storage. This makes for another great location to store automated backups. First, open Hazel in your <strong>System Preferences\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Click the <strong>plus button<\/strong>, on the bottom left side, under the <strong>Folder<\/strong> section.<\/p>\n<p>Navigate to the <strong>Premiere Pro Auto Save<\/strong> vault.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00CS75YKE\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B00CS75YKE&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=mediastorm01-20\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17880\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/blog41.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"405\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mediastorm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/blog41.jpg 512w, https:\/\/www.mediastorm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/blog41-300x237.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then, in the right column, below <strong>Rules<\/strong>, click the <strong>plus button<\/strong> to create a new rule.<\/p>\n<p>Name the rule <strong>Creative Cloud Auto Save Vault<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Then add the following conditions:<\/p>\n<p>If the extension ends with <strong>prproj<\/strong> (Premiere\u2019s file extension), copy the file to the <strong>Creative Cloud Files<\/strong> folder in your user directory.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00CS75YKE\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B00CS75YKE&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=mediastorm01-20\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17877\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/blog51.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"398\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mediastorm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/blog51.jpg 512w, https:\/\/www.mediastorm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/blog51-300x233.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>These files will then be synced to the cloud.<\/p>\n<p>If disaster strikes, you can then retrieve your files online at <a href=\"https:\/\/creative.adobe.com\" target=\"_blank\">creative.adobe.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As the saying goes, there are two kinds of people: those who have lost their files because of a computer malfunction and those who will.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This article is part of a series of posts with tips and tricks from our producers&#8217; experience working with Adobe Premiere Pro CC after years of working in Final Cut Pro.
