When it comes to backups, you can never have enough.<\/p>\n

Fortunately, Premiere Pro\u2019s Auto Save vault (File > Project Settings > Scratch Disks\u2026)<\/strong> allows you to backup your project file at user-specified intervals.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve written previously<\/a> about how to enhance this functionality with Noodlesoft\u2019s $25 Hazel<\/a>. Hazel essentially watches your vault for updated versions and then copies them to a secondary destination of your choice, all automated and in real time.<\/p>\n

The reason for this added protection is that even if you backup<\/a> your work every evening, what happens if your drive dies in the middle of the afternoon? You could potentially lose hours of work.<\/p>\n

With the advent of \u00a0<\/em>Premiere Pro CC<\/a>\"\", Adobe now offers users 20GB of free online storage. This makes for another great location to store automated backups. With the assistance of Hazel, you can think of this storage as an Auto Save vault in the cloud.<\/p>\n

Setting Up Creative Cloud<\/h2>\n

To set up your online storage, log in to creative.adobe.com<\/a>, select Download Center<\/strong> on the menu bar and choose the Creative Cloud<\/strong> application.<\/p>\n

\nOnce installed, click on the menu bar icon, log in and select Files<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Click the Start Syncing<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Creative Cloud will create a folder in the Finder<\/strong> on the top level of your user directory. You can navigate there by selecting the Open Folder<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Anything stored here will automatically be synced to the cloud.<\/p>\n

Hazel Rule<\/h2>\n

Next you\u2019ll need to set up your Hazel rule. First, open Hazel in your System Preferences\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

Click the plus button<\/strong>, on the bottom left side, under the Folder<\/strong> section.<\/p>\n

Navigate to the Premiere Pro Auto Save<\/strong> vault.<\/p>\n

Then, in the right column, below Rules<\/strong>, click the plus button<\/strong> to create a new rule.<\/p>\n

Name the rule Creative Cloud Auto Save Vault<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Then add the following conditions:<\/p>\n

If the extension ends with prproj<\/strong> (Premiere\u2019s file extension), copy the file to the Creative Cloud Files<\/strong> folder in your user directory.<\/p>\n

These files will then be synced to the cloud.<\/p>\n

If disaster strikes, you can then retrieve your files online at creative.adobe.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n
