It\u2019s a great tool for real-time collaboration. When two people work on the same document, I can actually see my colleague\u2019s edits as they happen.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, Google introduced a new feature, <a href=\"http:\/\/googledrive.blogspot.com\/2014\/03\/add-ons.html\" target=\"_blank\">Add-ons<\/a>. Think of them as extensions for Google Docs that work across all browsers.<\/p>\n<p>To get started, in an open Doc select the menu <strong>Add-ons &gt; Get Ad-ons\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A pop-up window will appear, displaying available add-ons.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/#my-drive\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17422\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/image1-e1395694052803.png\" width=\"512\" height=\"357\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more-->It\u2019s worth spending time here as there are many helpful ones but for this tutorial search for <strong>Table of Contents<\/strong> from LumApps.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/#my-drive\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17425\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/image2-e1395694080763.png\" width=\"512\" height=\"71\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Table of Contents<\/strong> provides an easy and efficient way to navigate long transcripts by allowing you to quickly jump between sections.<\/p>\n<p>Click the <strong>Free<\/strong> button to install.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/#my-drive\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17424\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/image3.png\" width=\"170\" height=\"82\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To use this Add-on, you must first format all section headers of your transcript to the <strong>Heading 1 <\/strong>format.<\/p>\n<p>To do this, select your text and from the formatting pull down menu choose <strong>Heading 1<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/#my-drive\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17426\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/image4-e1395694109632.png\" width=\"512\" height=\"139\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Next, from the Google Docs menu select <strong>Add-ons &gt; Table of Contents &gt; Show in Sidebar<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>On the left side of your document, you\u2019ll see a list of all of your transcript sections.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/#my-drive\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17423\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/image5.png\" width=\"264\" height=\"169\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Simply click one to quickly navigate there.<\/p>\n<p>Should you not see your headings, click the\u00a0<b>refresh button i<\/b>n the\u00a0<b>Table of Contents\u00a0<\/b>tab<b>.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Very cool.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At MediaStom, we edit all of our transcripts in Google Docs.
