To read more about why we made the switch, check out <a href=\"http:\/\/mediastorm.com\/blog\/2012\/10\/19\/why-im-switching-to-abobe-premiere-not-final-cut-x\/\" target=\"_blank\">this post<\/a>.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>If you record interviews with more than one camera\u2013and you should if you can\u2013you\u2019ll need to sync your footage before you begin to edit.<\/p>\n<p><del datetime=\"2013-08-28T14:40:43+00:00\">Premiere Pro CC provides a method to do this but only if <strong>every<\/strong> clip contains a sync marker such as a hand clap. In reality, clapping each time you stop and start your camera is not practical, especially during an interview.<\/del><\/p>\n<p><strong>Correction:<\/strong> Premiere Pro CC does allows you to sync clips via audio waveforms, but I&#8217;ve found it a cumbersome process that does not often work.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, MediaStorm uses Red Giant\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.redgiantsoftware.com\/products\/all\/pluraleyes\/\" target=\"_blank\">PluralEye\u2019s 3.0<\/a>. It\u2019s available for $199 with a fully-functional 30-day trial.<\/p>\n<h2>Adding Clips<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Launch<\/strong> PluralEyes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15931\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image1.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"318\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mediastorm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image1.jpg 512w, https:\/\/www.mediastorm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image1-300x186.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Unlike previous versions, PluralEyes is now an independent application.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Select<\/strong> the <strong>Camera 1<\/strong> tab on the right side.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15932\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image2.jpg\" width=\"189\" height=\"177\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the <strong>Finder<\/strong>, select all clips from your first camera angle. Drag them into this tab.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image21.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15945\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image21.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"291\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mediastorm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image21.jpg 512w, https:\/\/www.mediastorm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image21-300x170.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To create an additional camera tab, click the <strong>+ icon<\/strong> below the window (<strong>Shift-Command-C<\/strong>)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image3-e1377619892218.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15933\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image3-e1377619892218.jpg\" width=\"412\" height=\"562\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Drag clips from your second camera angle here.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15934\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image4.jpg\" width=\"198\" height=\"167\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Repeat this process for each additional camera.<\/p>\n<p>If you used an external audio recorder drag your audio clips on to the <strong>Audio Recorder 1<\/strong> tab.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image5.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15935\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image5.jpg\" width=\"203\" height=\"199\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Syncing<\/h2>\n<p>PluralEyes syncs camera angles by comparing the audio waveforms from each camera angles. Therefore, it\u2019s critical to record audio on each camera you use, even if it\u2019s low quality.<\/p>\n<p>From the <strong>Sync<\/strong> menu select <strong>Try Really Hard<\/strong>. This is a slower but more precise process. It\u2019s still relatively quick as PluralEyes 3 is considerably faster than previous versions.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, press the <strong>Synchronize<\/strong> button at the top of the window.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image212.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15944\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image212.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"84\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mediastorm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image212.jpg 512w, https:\/\/www.mediastorm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image212-300x49.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll see PluralEyes go to work and start adjusting clips on the application timeline.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image22.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15946\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image22.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"153\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mediastorm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image22.jpg 512w, https:\/\/www.mediastorm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image22-300x89.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Exporting From PluralEyes<\/h2>\n<p>When the process is complete, press the <strong>Export Timeline<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image6.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15936\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image6.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"85\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mediastorm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image6.jpg 512w, https:\/\/www.mediastorm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image6-300x49.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the pop-up <strong>Export Timeline<\/strong> window, choose <strong>Premiere Pro <\/strong>and check <strong>Final Cut Pro XML for Premiere<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image7.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15937\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image7.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"361\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mediastorm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image7.jpg 512w, https:\/\/www.mediastorm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image7-300x211.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Press <strong>Export<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>PluralEyes will export an XML file.<\/p>\n<h2>Importing to Premiere Pro<\/h2>\n<p>To import into Premiere Pro, simply select <strong>File &gt; Import (Command-I)<\/strong> and choose your PluralEyes XML file.<\/p>\n<p>Premiere Pro will rebuild your synced sequence.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes you may find that your files mysteriously appear offline. Rather than reconnect them, I\u2019ve found it easier to <strong>save<\/strong> then <strong>quit<\/strong>. When you reopen your project, the files should reappear back online.<\/p>\n<p>Notice that PluralEyes stacks your camera angles on top of each other, each on a separate video track.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image23.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15943\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image23.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"260\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mediastorm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image23.jpg 512w, https:\/\/www.mediastorm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/image23-300x152.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In order to see what\u2019s on video track 1, you must first select, then disable (<strong>Command-Shift-E<\/strong>) the clip on track 2.
