\"\"<\/a>Truth With A Camera<\/a> is holding its next workshop<\/a> in Washington D.C. November 10-17. This intense, week-long workshop will be held in conjunction with FotoWeek DC<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The Truth With A Camera<\/a> workshop teaches photographers to use their cameras to tell intimate and powerful stories while partnering with local nonprofits and NGOs. The workshop provides a unique educational environment that simultaneously pushes photographers to explore their visual storytelling potential while working with a nonprofit and its clients to accurately and compassionately tell stories that explain the struggles and hopes of the people whom they will photograph.<\/p>\n

During the week, photographers receive daily critique by photojournalism coaches who have long histories creating documentaries on social change. Nightly presentations by prize-winning photojournalists and NGO representatives will discuss how photojournalism and the nonprofit world are coming together to produce valuable and powerful work.<\/p>\n

At the end of the workshop, at a gallery show of the week\u2019s work, photographers share their work with the participating organizations who are taught how to best use the documentary stories to promote change. Nonprofits and NGOs benefit by having a new library of fully licensed images that have the power to motivate people to action and students realize that they can have a powerful voice if they speak in the photographic language.<\/p>\n

The Truth With a Camera<\/a> Workshop was founded in 1994 by Dr. Vme Edom Smith, who brought together leading photojournalism instructors and photojournalists for a week of shooting and editing. Since then, the workshop has been held in the U.S., Mexico, Ecuador and Bosnia.<\/p>\n

The Truth With A Camera<\/a> workshop works in conjunction with FOTODC<\/a> and with support from the Center for Nonprofit Advancement<\/a>.<\/p>\n
