2008 Soul of Athens Launched

The 2008 edition of Soul of Athens has launched. Produced by the School of Visual Communication at Ohio University, this year's group looked at Wellness within the Athens County, Ohio, community. 30 stories are grouped into the categories Mind, Body, Spirit, and Place. It's well worth the time spent to go through the site, there are quite a few excellent projects in here. If you somehow missed the amazing (and multiple award-winning) compilation of stories last year, be sure to check the 2007 project out, too.

World Press Photo Award Interviews Online

World Press Photo interviewed the 2008 winning photographers about their images, and has posted the interviews on their site. You can hear Tim Hetherington discuss his World Press Photo of the Year, listen to Platon speak about photographing Putin, and check out over 20 additional interviews. The 2007 Interviews are also online if you missed them last year.

The Assistant Multimedia Director will coordinate online visual coverage with editiors, writers and photographers. Assist the Director of Photography/Multimedia in managing the multimedia newsgathering operation for RockyMountainNews.com, including supervising and assisting photographers in producing audio and video for the Web; will shoot video for the Web, also will train and assist reporters in basic audio and video; will ensure the website is updated frequently with the latest breaking news video; will assist the Director in video and audio coverage plans, will make assignments, edit video and audio; assist in development of website presentation of video and audio, will assist in the performance of all administrative and management duties. Requirements: Four-year college degree or equivalent in work experience; minimum 5 years as photographer (or videographer) on a daily newspaper. Must have excellent leadership and interpersonal skills. Expert in multimedia applications such as Photoshop CS, Adobe Flash, Final Cut Pro and/or Adobe Premiere Pro.…

April 2008 Digital Journalist now online

The April 2008 Digital Journalist is now online. Scott Jensen of KTUU in Anchorage, was recently named NPPA's TV News Photojournalist of the Year. Three stories from his award-winning portfolio, along with his favorite story, are on the site, each with a video interview with Jensen. This month's issue also features "Philip Jones Griffiths in Memorium," a tribute to the late photographer, whose work in Vietnam and throughout his career at Magnum made such a great impact on photojournalists and on everyone who saw his work.
