October Digital Journalist Online

The October 2008 Issue of The Digital Journalist is now online. Along with the usual columns, there are two features this month: "As we head into the final days of the American presidential election, we present two galleries by probably the best photographers who have been covering this race. Both have spent the better part of the last two years with their candidates, and offer us remarkable access to those behind-the-scenes moments. Stephen Crowley of The New York Times has been covering the John McCain campaign, while Callie Shell has been covering the Obama campaign for Time magazine. They give us remarkable "inside" images of these campaigns."

August Digital Journalist online

Ed Kashi's latest project, Curse of the Black Gold, is featured in this month's Digital Journalist.  The feature includes an introduction by Dirck Halstead, a gallery of images, and a video interview with Kashi. If you haven't seen this project yet, here's your chance. Another feature this month is on Walter Iooss' new release, Athlete. With introductions by Michael Jordan and Sports Illustrated Editor Terry McDonell, and extended commentary by Iooss interspersed throughout the gallery, this is a feature well worth checking out.

Digital Journalist June issue now online

The June issue of the Digital Journalist is now online. Featured this month is a selection of pictures and personal commentary from Bill Eppridge: "A Time It Was: Bobby Kennedy in the Sixties". Barbara Baker Burrows gives a terrific introduction to both Bill and the images. Also of note, a firsthand account and gallery by James Whitlow Delano, "In the Eye of the Myanmar (Burma) Cyclone" covering the recent devastation.

May issue of The Digital Journalist now online

The May issue of The Digital Journalist is now online. This month features a slideshow from the four photographers- Larry Burrows of Life magazine, Henri Huet of The Associated Press, Kent Potter of United Press International and Keisaburo Shimamoto of Newsweek- who were killed over Laos in 1971 when their helicopter was shot down by North Vietnamese gunfire. The remains of the four were recently interred in the new Newseum in Washington, D.C. If you don't have time to read anything else on the site this month, definitely check out the exceptional work of these four men.

April 2008 Digital Journalist now online

The April 2008 Digital Journalist is now online. Scott Jensen of KTUU in Anchorage, was recently named NPPA's TV News Photojournalist of the Year. Three stories from his award-winning portfolio, along with his favorite story, are on the site, each with a video interview with Jensen. This month's issue also features "Philip Jones Griffiths in Memorium," a tribute to the late photographer, whose work in Vietnam and throughout his career at Magnum made such a great impact on photojournalists and on everyone who saw his work.
